2026 Incidents

On the third of May, at around 2:45 PM the Bellville Fire Department called in on the Essex County Fire Mutual Aid channel for units direct to the fire scene at 347 Cortlandt St as well as to backfill the stations. On arrival units transmitted a multiple alarm fire and continued operations. Shortly after command requested another 2 alarms per request of Newark Battalion 2 as they had extension to the building on the Charlie Side. They then had a report of a house a block over (Stephen St) caught fire and diverted and requested additional resources. There was then again a report of a fire in a metal yard at 331 Main Street where additional resources were routed. Additional alarms were called, at least a 9th alarm but possibly a 10th, as well as special requests for various units and resources. The fire continues to maintain with crews still operating. The incident had units from Essex County, Bergen County, Passaic County, Hudson County, Morris County and more, as well as the NJ State Fire Marshal, the U.S. Army fire coordinators from multiple counties, various volunteer support groups, the American Red Cross. There were reports of a 40-50 departments and agencies operating on scene. It was a 12th alarm as of 10pm 5/3/26.
